Nelson's Mobile Boat Repair works with a large variety of core materials and resins to re-bond and seal new core, in turn, giving you many years of trouble-free enjoyment on your boat. We will fix whatever fiberglass issue you have quickly so you will be back on the water in no time.
If your boat has lost its original shine and is getting old and faded, it may be time for a compound and polish. Nelson's Mobile Boat Repair will evaluate the condition of your gel-coat and apply the appropriate techniques & materials to bring back the best appearance. Our detailing services will ensure the gel-coat on your boat is sealed and protected extending the life and value of your vessel.
If your boat has sentimental value or has been part of your family for years, restoring a boat to its former glory may be a great alternative to purchasing an expensive new boat. Nelson's Mobile Boat Repair can perform all the necessary tasks to achieve the highest quality results.
Spider cracks, blisters, scratches, gouges are all types of cosmetic damages that can offer a path for water to get into contact with the fiberglass structure under the gel-coat. It is highly recommended to repair cosmetic damages to maintain the integrity of the fiberglass.
If your boat floor, stringers or transom are made of wood, replacement is inevitable at some point in time. It’s important to have these areas checked. Nelson's Mobile Boat Repair will evaluate the condition of your floor, stringers, and transom and recommend the necessary repairs to ensure that every part of your boat's foundation is as strong as can be.
Fiberglass hulls are not totally waterproof (surprise, surprise). In fact, water molecules are small enough that, over time, they can and will pass through the semi-permeable layers of gel coat, resin, and fiberglass mat. Barrier Protection and Anti-fouling is preventative maintenance that protects the bottom of your boat and reduces the amount of sea life from attaching itself to the bottom of your boat, therefore, reducing drag and increasing fuel efficiency.
Osmosis is the process of water migrating through the gel-coat and into the fiberglass laminate, creating blisters that swell up, thus needing repair. Repair starts with the removal of the gel-coat, either on the affected areas or the entire bottom, until reaching clean fiberglass. After a drying period of 4 to 6 weeks, the area is refilled with epoxy resin and fiberglass (if required), primed and anti-fouled to protect your boat against further blistering.
